How practical were late 19th century uniforms?
I am not talking about the color. We all know guns back in those days did not use smokeless powder. They needed a way to identify soldiers in the battlefield.
I am asking if any thought was put into their design when it came to practicality? Like the positions of the pockets, how restrictive the uniform was, etc.
