KALPA Cosmic Symphony help

I'm using a PS4 controller and the A button won't work in the free play menu, so I am unable to choose a song. Whenever I go to edit the layout, I press the A button and it registers as the left trigger for some reason (this also happens on my Ps5 controller)? There isn't any info on how this game should run on steam deck so I'd appreciate some advice
