Canadian by Descent/ Urgent Processing Questions

Citizenship

Hello,

I'll try to keep this short because I am sure that I am a Canadian. I've begun the paperwork for acquiring my citizenship certificate and then after that I want to get a Canadian passport.

To start, I am an American but my Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother etc are all Quebecois. My family first came to Canada in the mid-late 1800s but they didn't start coming to the States until 1955, so there's half of my family who are still here and the other half who are still in Quebec. After a certain person's first term, the exodus of us returning to Quebec began and with the second term (plus many of them are aging) there's been a renewed effort of my family returning.

I'm one of the few American born people here and I'm honestly afraid of being left behind.

Because my Mother and Grandmother were born before 1970, the Canadian government site told me that I need to prove my citizenship through physical paperwork and I can't file online. Luckily, I have plenty of documentation so I don't need help with that. However, as things escalate here I want to leave as soon as possible, hopefully in under or a little over a year.

Would writing a letter for Urgent Processing to go along with my citizenship papers actually help to reunite with my family in Quebec and repatriate? I know that QC has it's own sort of immigration process but I haven't found much information about it in my research related to my situation.

Also, once I have my citizenship certificate is it better to get a passport while in Canada or not try to even cross the border for an indefinite stay until I have it while in the US? From my research, it doesn't seem like I need a visa once it's established that I am a citizen by descent but I'm not sure if that applies if I enter Canada with an American passport.

Thank you so much for any help!
