AITAH for feeling like my partner doesn’t contribute to chores?
My partner and I have been dating for about a year and a half now and we are moved into our own apartment together. They make a bit more money than me but that’s mostly due to needing to give them rides as they don’t drive, which limits when I can work. We both collectively suck at cleaning and keep our place orderly, but I’ve been really trying. The other day, we had decided to do some cleaning together, I would do the dishes, laundry, and clean our living area while they cleaned our bedroom. I finished all of my tasks which took me just about 3 hours. After I finish up I go to check on them and they have some progress made, but (to me) it seemed like less work than time spent, so the day after when they weren’t working but I was, I had asked if they could finish up the bedroom so I can come home and move some more stuff in, to which they said sure but by the end of the night it had barely been touched. I figured “alright whatever sometimes it takes me a few tries” and I brushed it off. Today however, when I went into work they had told me that today they would 100% clean up and even do some laundry and dishes as we need them done again and I wouldn’t be home until late, but then towards the end of my work shift (9pm at this point) they inform me that they had not done any cleaning and were going out with a friend to grab food and then hang out after for a bit before coming home. When I got home I also noticed that my partner had left there work clothes on the ground, emptied there pockets onto our kitchen table, and had actually taken some stuff out of a bedroom closet and left it out making the floor dirtier again. I love them very dearly and I try to understand we both struggle with this and that they’re trying to get a better social life, but it feels like I’m doing all the cleaning sometimes. (PS, this is my first Reddit post so I apologize if it’s a bit tedious)
