Am I the asshole? - Kid wailing while wife is sleeping.
Wife is a sound sleeper and has been working a ton lately while simultaneously battling both physical and mental postpartum issues. Tough season of life to say the least.
I leave to pick up pizza as she’s lying on the couch with our 7 month old in her sit-to-stand a couple feet away. When I arrive to the pizza place, I can hear on the Nannit monitor our daughter wailing. For 30 minutes I’m unable to reach my wife by phone as I hear the kid in distress. Luckily a good friend/neighbor was able to come over and they then tended to the baby and all was fine.
My first emotion was fear for our kid which quickly transitioned to frustration and a little bit of anger that my wife was able to sleep for 20-25 minutes while the baby was a couple feet away hysterically crying.
She thinks I’m overreacting and am being a huge asshole about it. I try to give her grace at every turn due to everything she’s dealing with but this felt like a bridge too far. Am I a dick or am I correct to feel angry at the situation?
