How much fuel should drain from the carburetor float bowl of a Westinghouse IGEN5000c?

I was following the medium-term storage instructions for my Westinghouse IGEN5000c, which recommends draining the carburetor float bowl, which I began to do. It's brand new, about 3 hours on it.

The first 6 oz. or so of gas was dark yellow/brown, which then faded to golden white, for the next 14 oz. or so. This was far more gas than I was expecting to come out, so I stopped.

First, is the color change normal? Second, how much gas should come out when I perform this step?
