Pretty simple strategy. It is insanely surprising there aren’t more people in my are doing this. Just tend to be the only one even interested in the books aside from passing glances or the occasional reader.

I show up on the last day to sales that are 50% off. I am familiar enough now with the estate sale companies in my area that I know which ones offer that on the last day and which ones are fair with book prices. Most I go to are both!

A few examples in the pictures that illustrate describe a little.

I got all of those magazines for $50. Which might sound like a lot at first for magazines, but hear me out. The white ones are all Architectural Digest which is a very sought after magazine. Right there I got several complete year sets from the 80s and many more almost complete sets. I have these up in sets for like $50-125 a piece and one lot of like 40 from the 2000s for $250. Also as you can see there are like 100 National Geographic there from the 90s-2000s which I should be able to slowly sell in lots of 8 for like $10.

The next picture are all the books I have gotten that I have listed so far. I started about a month and a half ago and have 62 listings. Many of these books I got for .50-.75 cents and got because they sell for $10 or more. Many signed or unique ones in there that will fetch $50-100+.

As you can see in pictures 3 and 4, I went to a sale today that had like 3 rooms filled with romance novels and they had them as 10 for $1. I grabbed two lots that I could sell all as one author. $5 total for all of it. Think I should be able to get like $150-200 at least and will likely just sell them in two big lots to simplify things, but could seperate out by series to squeeze a little more.

Finally for a bonus picture, this Chinese law review volume 1 of 21 from 2012 is probably my most random find yet. I got it for $1 and the only one I can even find listed is like $670! I know it wouldn’t sell for that most likely and it’s just cause they have the only one available but still, would be sweet if this random little book fetched like $100!

Feeling very good about things. I’m fairly young and don’t make a ton of money so $100-$200 a month extra is pretty helpful these days. What I’m learning about the book business or probably any eBay business is inventory is key. The more I have the more is being bought each week. Gotta keep going to sales and listing one item or lot every day.

Let me know if any of you on here had a similar experience or have any tips for me. Kind of just wanted to brag and know some people might think it’s cool. I was in this community getting inspired just like 2 months ago!

Been KILLING it lately grabbing books during the last couple hours of estate sales!
