Just got served by velocity investment LLC

Hello so I just received a court summons / served for a debt of $12,176.82.

This is not from the original creditor it is from a creditor whom I assume bought out the debt.

The document states I have 20 days to respond to the courthouse or a default will be entered against the defendant for the relief demanded in the complaint or petition.

I am currently facing financial difficulties and won’t be able to make the full payment to settle the debt I can try to make payments as long as they are willing to negotiate with me.

I am really confused as to what to do. This is not the original creditor so I don’t know who to reach out to. Should I get a lawyer, file for bankruptcy, contact velocity investments???? I am from Florida.

I am very unsure as to how to proceed if anyone can help me out I would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
