Need some help. Found a used quick release windscreen. Now... bolts??

Hi guys, I bought a used quick release windscreen for my 2012 XVS950A. I popped out the decorative plugs to install the mount and saw that the top bolts are M10s. I bought them from the local hardware store but they don't fit - they enter for a couple of threads and then stop. I suspect the threading is different. Anybody knows where I can find these bolts? It seems the places that sell the windscreen never mention the bolts.

I'm in Belgium if that matters.
