Song of the Day Redux, Day 4: Goodnight
Goodnight is track four of the 1999 EP, Plan to Take Over the World. And it's a Star Wars themed lullaby for his little brother. D'aww.
The Content: This song is about Claudio playing Star Wars with his brother Matthew when they were younger. Reminiscing about youth and the role Star Wars played in that. Another song with a heavy sense of nostalgia, much like Star Cecil. Though I'm not sure what being bent to please inside his armor means.
Star Wars was a major influence for Claudio in developing the Amory Wars, so it makes sense that it was a big part of his life, childhood, and even inspiration for some songs he wrote.
The Music: A lot of vocalizations from Claudio in this one. There are la-las, meow-meows, wa-wa-was, and whoa-oh-ohs galore. Aside from that, I think this is probably the least remarkable song on the EP, and the only one I don't really listen to regularly. There's some excellent drumming in here, though the guitar never does anything especially interesting in my opinion. I do like how the guitar line plays with the vocal melody in the "I'd give it up if I were you" part of the song.
The Part: Did you bring the X-wing fighter?
[La-la] Light
Round and round with tickled toes
Bare-bummed, we all fall
[La-la] Lit
Arms and charm in living room
We play Star Wars
Next door
My bed is shared with Matthew
And I love the sweet kiss
I love our battles in our dreams
Be nestled snug, and cry on
Luke, boy, did you bring the X-wing fighter?
I'm bent to please inside my armor
I will not...(yeah) fail
A wookie Chewbacca, Jabba, and all his friends love
Boba Fett's men representing the Clone Wars
Restore, we all fall downward
Did you bring the X-wing fighter?
I'm bent to please inside my armor
I will fail
I'd give it up if I were you
Never, please, and I was more than
Goodnight
Summer, she's gone but I cannot remember the sweet kiss
Summer, she gazed upon what I could know and
Remember we all fall downward
