Parents want me to figure out what I want to do in life right now.

They say I need a solid plan to go to college, which I get, and I have that. I'm going into MCB and I may want to get an MD PHD later but they say that I need to start working to get it right now. I was already planning on working hard in college but I don't think they believe that and now they don't want me to go OOS (even though with scholarships OOS is basically the same amt of $ as my in-state school) because they believe my education will be kinda worthless without a plan.

Idk what they want. I have a plan, I'm going to make sure I have friends and an environment to surround myself with to fulfill that plan, but they're giving me no leeway to change it if it goes to hell in a handbasket. I'm just tired of them dictating my life when they're supposed to let me do stuff the way I want.

I won't fuck shit up just for the sake of it and they say they know that so idk what they're so worried about. I hate the fact that my parents aren't from the US and their understanding of the US college system and degree system is so much more different from what it actually is and it's so damn hard to change their minds about it even though they are kinda wrong about everything they believe. For context both of them are from India and studied their MD in India.
