Why are Americans so against communism?

Serious question. From what I can tell from the other side of the world through media, the system is really making it hard to just live a normal life, be able to have kids, afford a house, healthcare, etc. It has also made people entirely dependent on their country and the system. The only people who benefit from capitalism are the rich. So, why are Americas so dead-set against communism?

Sorry if I got anything wrong. Like I said, I don't actually live close to America, so, if I didn't understand anything correctly, please tell me.
