Looking to hear stories from recovered heroin addicts/loved ones
Hi everyone. I am originally from Massapequa. I created an animated short film 5 years ago with the the hope to humanize those struggling with addiction and spread awareness of it being an illness. It was mostly inspired by the heroin epidemic on Long Island. One of my best friends growing up became addicted. She passed away a few years ago.
Since the films release I’ve received emails from people inspired to go into recovery over it or heartfelt appreciation for it because of the their loss of a love one to addiction.
I am now wanting to continue the story in a graphic novel format, but I’d really like to hear about peoples’ stories who are willing to share. What they may like to see from the story. And any other feedback.
It’s a delicate topic and I appreciate anyone who is willing to give me their time. You can DM me here.
If you’d like to watch the original short film, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/EvJJLuOe0_k?si=ZbD9KvQnf0YXQ2tG
Thank you. And lots of love to you all on the island.
