Can I irritate a mole from touching and scratching ?

So today for some reason I kinda felt itchy ( was probably my beard ) so I scratched it and it felt to be iritated. All day I have been checking it as it feels strange and iritated. My mom says I should leave it alone since it’s like everything concerning the skin and I can make it feel bad. Just so it’s clear 3 months ago I went for the same mole to a dermatologist and said I should not be worried. Also I read somewhere that pimples can grow on/under moles. I have had it my whole life ( albe it it was hairy and thankfully I got my beard growing after my teens so it is now one with it ). Anyways it’s probably nothing but I can’t stop picking it can’t I hurt it ?
