I woke up from a nap choking and gave noticed by uvula is really long. It's making me gag when I talk or eat. (34, Male, UK)
Please forgive the crude photo, I played hockey in my teens and the cost of fixing my teeth is far more than I can afford so please don't judge too harshly.
To clarify I am 34, Caucasian, I do not smoke. I am approximately 6 foot 2. I am 15 stone in weight. No prexisting conditions other than mild nasal drip. I rarely drink but might consume some form of alcohol at least once a month. Located in England.
When I was looking at my uvula in the mirror, I can see that it's so long, it's dangling in my throat and touching my tongue and the back of my throat. When I lean forward I can see it hanging and it's quite long.
I've never had anything like this before, I really don't know what to do. But my fiancee has claimed my snoring has been incredibly bad to the point that it's intolerable and she'll go sleep downstairs. But I've woke up feeling more tired than when I went to bed.
Is there a bigger issue here? There's no pain but there's other symptoms and some serious concerns. I was napping with my son this afternoon and was completely out when I woke up because I felt like my throat was blocked but when I went uprights my airways were clear.
I've attached a photo. The doctors are closed today but I can call 111. Should I wait until Monday or call 111? Is there anything I can do to help it?
Thank you all for any help or advice. Going out of your way to help folk like me is a thankless task so I can't explain how much I appreciate responses from professionals.
