[F4M] “She Smiled Like the End of the World”

NSFWF4M

"You ever meet someone who just felt… wrong? Like their smile was stitched on? Like if you blinked, they might vanish—or maybe you would? I don't know..."

[ROMANCE, SLICE-OF-LIFE, DRAMA, PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR]

Set in a dying commuter town on the outskirts of anywhere worth living, Edelweiss (it shall be christened thee!) is the kind of place where youg ambition goes to flatline and teenagers mark time in cigarette breaks, gas station coffee, and meaningless shifts at the 24-hour convenience store. The sun never feels quite right here. The vending machines hum like they're whispering secrets to each other. The only saving grace is the weather and beautiful mountains nearby. The people ruin it.

You play as an unremarkable, unpopular high schooler—quiet, sardonic, a bit of a burnout, perhaps a hapless romantic. You’ve made peace with being invisible, at least most days. Your parents are too tired to notice you slipping. Your classmates are locked in their own performative disasters. The only thing you kind of have control over is your part-time job at Misery Mart, the town’s poorly lit, semi-cursed convenience store.

You're not ambitious. You just want to be left alone ... and then she shows up. The new girl. Enter Sophia Yaldabaoth—or Aiko Mizuhara, depending who you ask (i.e. are you willing to go full weeb with me?)

She’s the dream girl in the wrong dream, a girl who just appears in your life one day, like she’s always been there. She’s kind, although too kind. She understands you and your angsty suburban problems—knows exactly what to say, what to do, how to make you feel seen. You never asked to be seen like that. Whenever she smiles, it feels like something terrible is about to happen.

Nobody knows where she came from and she’s too intense, too observant, and way too into you for most people. At school, she sits next to you like it was planned. She starts showing up in places she shouldn’t know you’d be. You ignore her until she’s hired at Misery Mart, and you’re told to train her.

What begins as a surreal comedy of errors—teaching this bizarre, too-charming, too-smart-for-this-town girl how to scan ramen and clean slushy machines—spirals into something not-so-comedic. She easily gets under your skin and talks about things you never told anyone. She seems to just know things. She asks you questions that shouldn’t matter, but somehow do, and deem to be less edgy jokes and more probing and clinical.

"What would you do if no one remembered you?" or "If you vanished, would it even change anything?"

She starts encouraging you to act on your worst thoughts, in the gentlest way possible. Push back against the world, she says. Tell people what you really think. Hurt them before they hurt you. Do you think you're strong enough to take on the world's problems by yourself? It's subtle. Insidious. Yet, you start listening, and each time you do, something goes a little more wrong.

People around you start falling apart. Your manager has a breakdown. A classmate disappears. Your grip on time and memory begins to shift—moments with her blur, skip, or repeat. She seems to always be where you are, and somehow, she always makes you feel like it’s your choice.

All the while, you're just two teens working the graveyard shift, arguing over expired snacks and mocking weird customers like nothing’s wrong.

If it isn't clear by the blurb above, I'm mainly looking for a literate to advanced RP partner (at least two paragraphs with passable grammar, please!) interested in psychological horror, slice of life, and slow-burn tragedy, centered around a toxic relationship with a character who is equal parts savior, parasite, and glitch in reality.

Basically, Clerks meets Goodnight Punpun by way of Donnie Darko. I'm looking for a story where the scariest thing isn’t ghosts or killers, but the things people need to believe in just to keep going.

Or, I guess "Yandere romance roleplay but hopefully less cringe and more interesting".

Let me know if you're interested!
