Marriage is a control tool masquerading as “love”

The core idea of marriage looks basically something like “I love you so much let’s get the government involved so you can’t leave”, and that’s exactly what it is, if you think about it, the main concept of marriage was born in past history as a tool to secure lands, wealth, family property, inheritances and all that kind of stuff, some people nowadays say “but that’s just stuff you see in history textbooks, nowadays people get married for love!” Really? Because if marriage was really about love, why does it even to this day come with endless legal agreements and soul sucking bureaucracy and even the whole system is literally designed in a way to trap people into these cycles in order that they can’t leave without going through huge financial expenses and endless soul-crushing paperwork? Those financial/legal reasons are the REAL reasons why people (especially women) get trapped in toxic marriages, because the whole system is designed in a way in order that they can’t leave without having potentially catastrophic consequences (like ending up homeless and such), but society has decided to romanticize the whole idea of marriage in order that most people don’t question what it really is, and it’s terrifying to see on how well it works
