To make a new account or keep the old one after a loooong hiatus

I have an IG account in the travel/outdoor niche with about 23k followers. I made the account in 2021 and was active until about halfway through 2022 when I gained a lot of followers (went from 7k to 26k in the matter of a couple of weeks) and got really in my head about the whole thing. Since then, I've posted maybe a couple of times a year at most.

About a month ago, I started posting very consistently - 3x per week, on the same days and roughly the same time of day. I know this could be higher but that's all I really have time for. My engagement has improved a bit since then but it's still not great. My average reel gets about 6k-7k views, with the exception of one that got about 300k views and gained me a few hundred followers (however I did boost that reel so I suspect that may have something to do with the success). While my engagement has improved somewhat, I feel like it's still pretty low for an account with 23k followers, plus don't get a whole lot of comments, maybe 10-20 on the average post. My story views are kind of finicky as well. If I post a new reel on my story, the views can be as low as 200, but if it's a selfie or something interesting it usually gets around 1,500 or 2,000 views.

My question is, do we feel like I should start from scratch on a new account, or continue trying to revive this one? I just don't want to waste my time if this account doesn't have a future. I would greatly appreciate any and all input!
