Freeze warning tonight

I’m new gardening in the mid-Atlantic (Maryland). We’re expected to dip below freezing tonight and I just planted a hydrangea in full bloom. I also have a yearling lilac that is just starting to bloom. Do I need to cover these, or are perennials usually fine during a spring freeze?
