Am I overreacting?

Advice Wanted

I see a therapist/psychiatrist at a clinic that’s a part of a hospital in my city, really extensive and well established - they usually have their shit together. I have therapy twice a week - Mondays and Thursdays. I built my work schedule around this and it’s been really good for a year and a half.

Over three weeks ago I received a call that my therapist wouldn’t be in for one session and she’d call to reschedule. We rescheduled for the following week and I got another call that she’d be out that whole week and I’d get another call to reschedule. Never got the call and basically now I’m going on 24 days without a session. I finally called the front desk and was like “hey… what’s going on I need to see someone asap.” They told me my therapist was on leave with no scheduled date to return. All of her cases (including me) are being transferred to other therapists.

I finally got in contact with my new therapist today and I explain my current situation of 2x a week sessions on Mon/Thu and immediately I’m told “we can’t do that because I have my usual clients and now all these new ones, I’m fully booked.” So now I have to basically take the scraps of her availability and rework my work schedule and I’ll only see her once a week. I’ve been doing decently well because of my consistent therapy schedule and now I have to start over and I feel like an afterthought because my therapy needs are kind of being ignored. We established a year ago we would meet twice a week because that’s what I really needed and I still do.

I’m grateful to even have a therapist still and I don’t mean to sound like a whiny baby but I have a huge life change coming in 7-8 months and I’m so scared this is gonna set me back. Having to start over with a new therapist and not having as much support when I still need it. Am I wrong to be upset for how this is being handled?
