The drive

The drive is quiet, but his mind isn’t. Doubt simmers beneath the surface—tight chest, sweaty palms, that low hum of unease. He’s not scared of the game, but of what it might reveal. Inexperience feels heavy. What if they notice? What if he doesn’t belong? Still, the road unwinds, and so does a sliver of pride. He’s showing up, despite it all. Not ready, maybe—but willing. And somewhere in that willingness, something brave begins to bloom.
