Horrible grinding noise

Hi all

Does anyone know what might cause a horrible grinding noise when I put my car into gear and try to pull off? It doesn’t move anywhere and makes a horrible grinding noise. It doesn’t make the noise when in neutral.

I’ve been advised it’s the driveshaft. I’ve always had a clicking noise for years when turning at low speeds so my cv joint has never been great, however can this cause my car to not move whatsoever when in gear? And make a very unhealthy grinding noise.
