Check Engine Night Valve Repair

Hi all,

My car is a 2021 Subaru Forester Premium 2.5L 4Cyl GAS. Back in December my check engine light came on while I was out of town. The code said it was most likely a gas cap issue, I replaced the gas cap and got the code cleared. The light came on again after about 2 weeks (MLK weekend) while I was out of town again. The code still read the same that it was something in that evap system. I cleared the code because I had to drive back home, the light came back on at about 2 weeks again. I brought it to a mechanic so they could evaluate the system. They found that my leak detection valve was messed up in some capacity (I think not sealing correctly) the part was on back order but they said it would be safe to drive and cleared the code. That was Feb 17th. It is now April 8th, the part it is but my check engine light never came back on. Does this mean that the detection valve could have fixed itself? I don’t want my car to be damaged, but I also don’t want to pay over $800 for a repair I may not need anymore. Does anyone have any insight? I figured my light would just come back on again after a few weeks but the fact that it hasn’t after over a month and a half has me in limbo.

Thank you!
