Question about federal tax payment

My accountant already filed my taxes and scheduled a debit payment to come out of my checking account on April 14. The amount that I owe is a little over $3000 but I will not have that in my account. He says that the payment just won’t go through and that the IRS will reach out to me regarding a payment plan, but I’m nervous that it will go through and put my account in the negative. Anybody have any knowledge of this??
