Thoughts on Skywatchers Post Production
Hi Everyone,
I’m a film maker from South Africa with almost 7 years of experience working on mostly documentary films. My specialities lie in Post Production with me serving as a pixel peeping Colorist on most projects.
I found the Skywatcher documentary to be very well produced and clearly aspiring for that Netflix polish from a technical standpoint, yet this very fact makes me suspicious.
If I were part of a film crew in the desert documentating world changing events and observations - I’d be rushing to include all relevant footage and audio, and share as much information as possible - without caring too much if there’s imperfect audio or grainy footage. Never mind waiting around for pretty illustrations and graphics of these craft. Yet in this documentary the only blurry or grainy footage is that of the actual UAP’s.
Why is Jake Barber so heavily focused on looking professional and legit? If it was a genuine scientific operation all of us would’ve been content with simple IPhone recordings had they given us the full picture, including dog whistles, radar facilities, and camera gear used to capture the UAPS. Also find it fishy that they only show UAPS from one camera source - why not have someone with a sports lens and DSLR attempt some normal looking photos while these things are in the sky? Also thinks it’s awfully convenient that all the classes happen to be ‘fast moving and hard to track‘.
My 2 cents, a genuine truth does not need to be wrapped in a pretty filter. Whilst those looking to fool have all the reason to be investing excessive time and money trying to ‘seem legit’ .
