I hate my flatmates and want to teach them a lesson

I live in Dublin and share a flat with an Argentinian couple, and honestly, I’d love nothing more than to see them gone. You might ask, “Why not just move out?” Two reasons. First, if you know anything about Dublin’s housing crisis, you know finding decent accommodation is no joke. I genuinely love this apartment—it’s spacious, bright, and in a great location. Second, I wouldn’t even be the first to complain. The two flatmates before me packed up and left in a hurry just to get away from them. So why should I be the one to leave?

What’s the problem? Well, where do I start? They constantly nag and criticize everything I do, but when the feedback goes the other way, they suddenly go deaf. Their hygiene is borderline offensive—leaving the bathroom door open after using it, keeping raw, uncovered food in the fridge, leaving hair all over the house, even in the washing machine. And don’t get me started on the attitude—slamming doors, ignoring me when spoken to, walking out of shared spaces just to be petty. The energy is beyond toxic.

And yes, I did try the adult route—I’ve spoken to them respectfully and directly, hoping we could clear the air. It only made things worse. That’s why I’m done playing nice. I’m on a mission now—not to be petty, but to teach them that they can’t continue walking over others without consequences.

Any advice?
