Buying Car from Friend w/ Iffy Credit - Canada
Hey Guys, I’ve recently taken a hit to my credit score due to my debt to income ratio being out of wack (reckless spending combined with wife taking extended mat leave). Anyways I make decent money ~100k and wife makes around the same (her score is slightly better than mine) but a dive into her finances would likely look the same as mine. Anyways I want to buy a new car from a buddy but I’m worried we’re going to go through the whole thing then finance is going to shut everything down and I’m going to look like a chump. I’m considering going elsewhere for the car to avoid this possibility but I really want to give this guy my business.
Current TransUnion Score is (692 poor) and with my wife we owe about 60k in line of credit/credit card debt.
Last time I bought a new car was in 2018 and I can’t remember what my score was like at the time.
Anyways I guess my ask of you guys is, is there anyway to know ahead of time if I’d be approved for financing? When you sit down with the finance manager do I have to list out all my debts or does that just get pulled by the bank?
Appreciate any advice but I believe the Canadian side of the finance part is different than the US so I mostly appreciate Canadian insight!
