Debating on Kauai vs Big Island for September

Last time we went to Kauai in 2021, we didn't like it because our Napali coast tour was canceled due to currents, and no rental cars available. But I feel like it could still be great. However, the beaches look nicer in Gold Coast Big Island vs Hanalei Bay?
