AIO? Husband wants to go to his ex wife’s memorial
My husband and I have been married for 18 years. We recently had a baby.
Before we got married he was recently divorced. I met him after divorce. Him and his ex wife were together since they were 16. They were together for 10 years and then they got married and divorced very soon after. He insisted she was sleeping around and cheating on him. It wasn’t even him who left, it was her. She told him she’s going to see some friends and never came back.
Knowing my husband, I think I know why she left. He is very mean and he has a short fuse. When he gets into arguments, he brings up everything, things not even related to the argument. He is a miserable person in general who always complains ( in an argument) he is miserable ( in the marriage). She had the opportunity and the balls to not put up with it. I commend her for that.
Now, she died a few weeks ago, of an fentanyl overdose. I felt so pissed for her.
Now, my husband remained friends with her brother. I always thought it was awkward. We moved away from that state about 16 years ago but when he was going to visit he would almost always get together with the brother.
Now, he told me that the brother wants to put together a memorial for her and he is going. He didn’t ask if I was okay with it or anything. To be honest, I feel like I can’t really stop him from going. If that’s what he feels like doing. Of course I would like him to not go because that’s in the past and they didn’t share anything together, they didn’t have kids. But they did share a friendship and some vows . I know he loved her a lot. I know that he will always love her. I also know that he never felt the same about me and I was never as good as her in many aspects. So I am hurt a bit but I want to know, Am I overreacting for wishing he didn’t want to go?
