Keep doing this in remembrance of me.—Luke 22:19.

For Jehovah’s people, the Memorial of Christ’s death is the most important day of the year. It is the only event that Jesus specifically commanded his followers to observe. (Luke 22:19, 20) It reminds us of ways we can show appreciation for Jesus’ sacrifice. (2 Cor. 5:14, 15) It also gives us an opportunity to enjoy “an interchange of encouragement” with our brothers and sisters. (Rom. 1:12) And many interested people are motivated to start on the road to life by what they see and hear. Think, too, of how the Memorial unites our global brotherhood. No wonder the Memorial holds such a special place in our heart!
(Luke 22:19, 20) 19 Also, he took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “This means my body, which is to be given in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.” 20 Also, he did the same with the cup after they had the evening meal, saying: “This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood, which is to be poured out in your behalf.
(2 Corinthians 5:14, 15) 14 For the love the Christ has compels us, because this is what we have concluded, that one man died for all; so, then, all had died. 15 And he died for all so that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for him who died for them and was raised up.
(Romans 1:12) 12 or, rather, that we may have an interchange of encouragement by one another’s faith, both yours and mine.
