Replacing Coil on 2014 Air Handler vs Replacing the Unit?
The coil on the 2014 Goodman air handler has a leak and needs to be replaced. I have one estimate that can replace the coil itself, and I'm also looking to install a heat pump. Estimate is 8k
Another company won't replace the coil; their only option is to replace the air handler all together, along with a new line set and heat pump. Estimate is 13k.
Is 5k worth having new/matching air handler and line set? Would that delta be recovered over the life of the system? I expect to get the 10yr warranty out of the whole system replacement. I get the peace of mind mind of having a new system, but 5k is 60% higher upfront cost.
