Should I stay?

I recently started dating this guy but we broke up a month later due to many problems in the relationship. The biggest being my ex best friend setting me up, she told a guy to text me and then went on to telling my then boyfriend to watch out and making it seem like I was texting other guys. When the breakup happened I tried my best to fix things but he completely flipped and turn into a mayor asshole, by blocking me and cussing me out and just straight up telling me "go fuck yourself" I know it's not right and I deserve better but at the same time I defend him by the fact he has no mother in his role and a healthy relationship was never modeled as he has 3 brothers and lives with his dad. This happened about a week ago and we still text but I have not told anyone we are. He apologized for his behavior and told me he was really upset that day because more things were going on and our breakup was stressful and he just flipped. Should I leave the relationship or should I try again in hopes of him changing his attitude?
