I took Zepbound for 6 months and have kept the weight off! AMA!

Tips/Tricks

The title says it all.

I am a 26yo F with PCOS. I am 5'8 and weighed around 175 lbs. With PCOS, I really struggled with binge eating and had a pretty unhealthy relationship with food. I often gained and lost the same 20lbs. After 26 years of disordered eating and an unhealthy relationship with myself, I decided to get on a GLP1. It. Changed. My. Life.

First, I paid for this out of pocket using a savings card. I even paid my doctor 100 a month for every prescription she wrote me. It was expensive, but you know what else was expensive? My insane relationship with food. It cost me my most precious asset—my mind.

I went on this drug with the intention that I WAS GOING TO GET OFF (because it was so expensive). I wanted this drug for the mindset change, and that's exactly what it did. This drug changed my life because for the first time I stopped thinking about food. I lost 30 lbs; I am in the best shape of my life. I workout 6 days a week.

So, to keep this energy going, I made mindset shifts while on the drug that I've carried on with me since being off, and I have pretty much kept my same body composition.

Lessons I learned.

  1. I look at food with an abundance mindset. I am grateful to afford food. I don't need to finish everything on my plate. Its okay to throw something away if I am truly full.

  2. PROTEIN! I always knew this, but again I had a horrible relationship with food. Starting my day with a high protein breakfast sets the tone for a good day. I center all my meals around protein. Real protein, not processed incomplete protein.

  3. Drink water throughout the day. If I just ate and im hungry-- its because im thirsty.

  4. Do not restrict that leads to a binge.

  5. Food is fuel. I need it to survive. I love my body. My body works so hard for me. Treat it with respect.

  6. I have PCOS, so processed carbs truly are my enemy. Eating whole foods like potatoes has changed my life.

Im so grateful for this medication, if you think you are going to gain the weight back, its because your not taking away the true lesson from this medication. The mindset shift.
