Om symbol tattoo

Hey everyone, for some background I am Sri Lankan American and buddhist and practicing. My family has been buddhist for generations. Id really like an om tattoo on my hip because it’s not easily exposed, however I know in Hindi faith it’s considered disrespectful. However both of my parents have said they don’t see an issue with it. Because the symbol is both Hindi and Buddhist and I am buddhist, I don’t see an issue with this placement as I know its cultural and religious significance. Any opinions though?
