Thinking of Purchasing a Pair of Hand-Carved Lion Guardians (獅子) from Japan, but am worried about them being cursed.

Basically the title. They're a bit pricey (probably about $500 all in after shipping from Japan), but I am superstitious, and have been thinking I'd like a pair of small, wooden lion guardians to keep out bad spirits. They are absolutely beautiful pieces, especially considering their age. But being superstitious, I'm worried they could also bring me bad luck. What do you think? Should I just get a rainbow obsidian instead?
