Graphics settings not saving

I’m trying to change the resolution in the display settings because as it is right now the graphics are all stretched out and it makes the game borderline unplayable, when I go into the display settings and try and change the resolution it says that “the changes will apply after the game restarts” but when I exit the game through the menu and relaunch it they setting are the same as before I changed them, if anyone has a fix for this I’d appreciate it
