F*** I just need to vent! I think my training buddies are transphobes
Last year I went to my martial arts summer camp. We were a few from our club, so we rented an airbnb together. A large house for all five of us. I told them that I wanted to go there this year again, and we should try to rent the same house, and they agreed. It was me, (not real names) Steve, Annie, Art, and Lilly. This was also the time I made it clear that they should use my new name and pronouns, of which all of them have been supportive. Especially Art and Lilly.
Fast forwards to today. I ask what's the situation with the house, and we should probably hurry up and rent it again. Steve just looks at me and says. "Yeah, we've already done it. It's confirmed." I'm a bit surprised, but happy. I say I should register for the camp but Steve cuts me off with "Oh, but the house is full." WTF?!
I know Lilly can't come as she's pregnant or will have a new born around the time of the camp. Art won't join either, but I didn't know this at the time. Without asking or checking in with me, Steve and Annie, (a couple in their early 20s) has booked the house and given away all the beds. I am shocked and starting to panic, as I know time is now running out for if I even can find a place to stay for the week.
As I think things through, a few quotes and situations pop up. Annie has previously told me, and others, that she doesn't like the word "cis" as she think it's derogatory and downgrading towards women. We've tried to tell her the meaning, but I don't think it has stuck. Steve has also mentioned how he has read and enjoyed "Twelve rules to life" by Jordan Peterson. I know for a fact that my identity has made them both uncomfortable at times before.
Now I can't shake the feeling that either concious or not, my identity as trans has impacted their decision of excluding me. Steve made excuses that it all happened so fast, and they were in Dublin at a tournament and so on, but there are always ways they could have run it past me, even if they just told one of the others that they would check in with me first. I told Art, because he is our trainer and he drove me home. I am currently fuming and trying my best to calm down before bed. I feel so betrayed. Yeah, I should probably have seen something like this coming a mile away because of both their history with right-leaning views, but our whole sport is built on mutual respect.
Sorry for the long rant, I just needed to scream into the void.
P.S: If you, Steve or Annie is reading this, then I hope both of you always step on LEGO barefoot. I hope your knees hurt just enough so it's nothing you can do, but it never goes away. I hope you both miss every important buss ride, so you'll never be on time for big or important moments. I hope the Tesla you drive break down on a deserted road without service. Fuck you both!
