Driving Anxiety Help
I used to love driving. There's nothing like it. I've driven from Florida to California and from Charlotte to DC. I got into accidents in 2018 and 2019. I hydroplaned one year and hit black ice the 2nd time. After the second accident, I drove around with a vehicle that didn't have an airbag for about 2 years. I think that and the accidents messed me up. Over time, I've developed a fear of driving on the interstate. Going long distances literally messes me up. There have been times when I started on the interstate and had to get off and finish the street way. This has been going on for years now. Therapy helped a little, but not enough.
Here's the crazy thing. Having sips of alcohol (not getting drunk, but having a slight buzz) has helped me drive great on the interstate. It helps my nerves, and I'm no longer nervous when it comes to driving from state to state. There has to be another way though. Does anyone know something I can do or take to calm my mind while driving on the interstate? I'm tired of relying on alcohol. It has to be a better way.
