Window
When I was younger and life was simpler, when I was bored I'd look out the window and just watch. I'd watch the wildlife, the stars, I'd watch the trees blow in the wind and the rain drip slowly down the window.
Now that I'm older now that life is more complicated, when I'm bored I watch the small window that I keep in my pocket. I never remember what I watch specifically but I spend every day watching it.
When I was younger and life was simpler, if it was dry I'd play outside sometimes I'd play even if it wasn't dry. I'd run around chasing some imaginary villain or saving some imaginary princess from an imaginary dragon.
Now that I'm older now that life is more complicated, if it was wet I'd stay inside watching this small window that lives in my pocket. Sometimes I'd stay in and watch it even if it was dry. I don't remember what I watch through this window but with each swipe of my thumb I erase any and all imagination that remains in me.
When I was younger and life was simpler, when I was upset I would find one of my parents and there'd give a hug and a kiss to make it all better. And it did make it all better.
Now that I'm older now that life is more complicated, when I'm upset I pretend I'm not and continue to watch this small window. How much longer must I watch through this window, when can I go out there and experience life for myself. Life was so much simpler when I was younger, now life is so much more complicated and so I will hide away and continue to watch life through this small window that resides in my pocket.
