Got written up over $500

A customer left $500 and i got pulled into the office the next day for it. I had put it to the side thinking they would come back for it immediately and then forgot about it. By the time I remembered, i was already home. I had texted another shift lead to take care of it. I came in and was pulled into the office for a potential write up. My SM decided against after i explained everything. The DM stepped in and wrote me up behind my back. I just now i learned about it. Apparently it looked shady. Regardless of the fact i was literally shot at over 3k someone attempted to steal from the company.
My odds of being ESM are gone now aren't they?
