Is Dispatch really as bad as (some) people say it is?

QUESTIONS/SELF

I’ve been a member of this subreddit for a couple months and I feel like all I see is “dispatch burnout” posts. Is it really THAT serious?

I also see people talking about quitting all the time and I wonder what jobs they are moving into afterwards.

In my experience as a middle aged man, I haven’t loved any jobs I’ve had. I’m currently working in mental health (specifically substance use disorder). You want to talk about burnout? Lol. I’ve also worked in the trades, retail, food, etc.

I start my first dispatch job soon. All I have is a GED. I’m starting at almost $28/hr in a nice area where the cost of living is just average. The state pension fund is a good one. I just can’t imagine giving this opportunity up, so what’s the deal??

You can tell me that I won’t know until I’ve done it for a while, but I want to know why! I’m starting to think people are either just dramatic or they haven’t been out in the workplace long enough to realize work’s gonna suck at most places!

I also release this just may not be the place for people to come talk about how much they love work. People are more likely to come to a place like this to complain is my thought.

Idk.. tell me what you think!
