Questions about accessories
So, I just ordered a picopresso and I need some clearer answers. I have read EVERY post on this subreddit and I feel that I am slightly more confused about upgraded baskets and accessories. Context: at home I have a Flair 58+2 for which I DID upgrade the basket to a VST precision basket. The Flair was our first foray into true espresso, so I didn't even bother with the stock basket because general consensus was clear; upgrading was the way to go. But, now we really want a travel espresso for camping, outdoor adventures, etc. and from everything we have read the picopresso beats out all the rest of the options, so it is currently on order, very excited!
So, all of that to say, now that its on order I need to figure out which accessories I MUST have, and which I can do without. The general agreement seems to be that the two baskets that are worth upgrading to are: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DZ45PZB/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_6?smid=A1SDRICVPE972M&th=1 OR https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B1Q81CN9/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_8?smid=A1U0EKKQHMN0IM&th=1 . However, based on everything I've read it seems like if I choose to upgrade to either of these, I will need not only a new funnel but ALSO a new tamper and neither of those will be able to fit inside the picopresso (like the stock ones do) and keep it small/simple for travel. I have also garnered that neither of these fit perfectly well, so some people are dremeling the edge to make it fit, not a great option. Ideally, I want the kit to all fit together without having to pack separate accessories (large tamper, larger funnel, etc) but I also want to make sure I can get good shots out of it. So, my question is, is it REALLY worth it to upgrade for all the hassle? And, has anyone solved this issue with upgrading JUST the basket and using the stock items successfully?
I'm also open to any other insight anyone has on other upgrades/accessories. Having learned on the Flair 58+2, I think I can figure out how to dial in by taste and skip the gauge (just ONE more thing to carry). But of course I have a good hand grinder and a scale. I purchased the 4oz yeti cups for cortados, our drink of choice, along with small milk pitcher and hand frother. I have a small stand I found which SHOULD fit it, I just am not a fan of the Wacaco stand, seems a little big and a little frustrating to pack up.
