Considering a switch from the Hunter 350 to a Vitpilen 250 – good idea or not?
I bought a Hunter 350 a few months ago as my first ever bike. I loved the bike during my test rides, but now, 1500km later, I feel like I've started to build a mild resentment towards it.
- The bike's too bulky for my taste (yes, even being the lightest and smallest RE)
- The ride is not very comfortable for my height (6'0"). Got bar risers installed, but that kinda made it worse (somehow)
- The biggest problem though is the clutch. It's really heavy and tiring to use in the city, which is 95% of my use. I get tired from every ride because of the constant shifting. I thought I'd get used to it, but now I just default to my Ather 450X for day-to-day commutes because of just how nimble, quick and hassle-free it is.
That isn't to say that the Hunter doesn't own my heart; I absolutely love taking it out of the city, how it sounds, how it feels on twisty roads – but my day-to-day is in the city. And as convenient as the 450X is, the small wheels and super tight suspension make my back hurt.
Coming to the switch – I'm considering selling the Hunter and getting a second-hand Vitpilen 250 (same price, no extra cost). It's a lighter bike, with a much quicker acceleration like I'm used to with the Ather, and it's got a quickshifter so no more constant clutch work. All these factors make it seem like a better ride for the city, but at the same time, it seems really dumb to sell a 3-month-old bike.
Is this swap something I should be considering?
