Oral Antibiotic Question
Oral antibiotics are supposed to be temporarily used when clearing up a rosacea flare, right?
I went to see a dermatologist and she immediately wanted to put me antibiotics, doxycycline specifically. I am allergic to minocycline, caused hives all over my body, so that sort of stumped her and she didn’t really know what to do since those antibiotics are in the same family, I could have the same reaction with the doxycycline. She then decided to prescribe me Amoxicillin…….indefinitely?
She said I should take it once a day indefinitely and that really confused me. I thought being on antibiotics long term would make you resistant? I tried to voice my concerns, but she said it would be fine and kind of blew me off. As of right now, I’m not going to take her advice, I know she’s a medical professional and I’m just me, but something feels off about this.
Has anyone had something like this happen to them with a doctor/dermatologist?
