Removing "fog" when restoring photos
I have a photo I'm restoring that was behind glass and some others where the photo has oxidized. When scanned, there are areas where a kind of blue fog appears over another color.
When I'm working on old B&W photos, I've had great success scanning in color, but then going into RGB and just using the Red or Green channels to restore to a perfectly contrasting B&W.
Color photos are another matter. The color replacement tool and color/tint/hue adjustments don't deal with this well. Any tips on how to get rid of this blue/gray fog so the lower part of this blouse trim looks purer red like the upper half? Patch tools and just painting doesn't seem to be a great solution either because the red varies due to lighting, but open to ideas on how to use these differently. Thanks.
