Looking for a weird playlist/compilation…everyday memes turned uncanny valley scary.

Just like the title says. This one has been troubling my friend and i for the past two years since we saw it.

Some friends and i were staying in a mountain cabin in the smokies about two years ago. We were just messing around playing games, watching anime crap, drinking and having a good time. Important to note that this wasn’t a rager, just sipping beers and nowhere near enough to brown/black out or not remember something the next day.

We put on youtube, some random meme video, either an hours long compilation or a playlist of shorter videos- it wasn’t something i selected but was there while it was on.

The videos started like any contemporary meme comp/try not to laugh challenge. Dumb and random stuff that gets a pity chuckle. However…maybe 30-45 min in, i noticed some weird things. 1 in every 15 or so clips, randomly, would be something really off putting, not horror per se, but uncanny valley/discomforting. Like realistic footage of something that shouldn’t exist, like a shadow man in the corner of a room or something…no specific topic each one was just uncomfortable in the way it felt like you were discovering something that had gone wrong, like this was some type of prank or psyop lol. Disturbing sounds at random, dark grainy footage interjecting, and in general things that aren’t necessarily immediate scary, but triggered a deeper flight or fight feeling.

I think i was the first to notice, i called out the first one or two that i saw, but by the time people would look it had moved on to the next harmless meme video and people returned to whatever board game or activity was happening. Probably didn’t care enough to wind it back at the time.

But then i noticed my other friend catch something in the video at the same time i saw it, something that unsettled him because he looked over at me and then we both locked in. There were gaps of 10+ min of nothing weird happening, then we started to notice single frames of scary images spliced in too- exorcist style.

There’s not a whole lot beyond that i remember. Three of us in total saw it and remember the same vibe/feeling, but agree it’s something difficult to describe. If i had to give it a feeling, it would be like a bad trip beginning- and no, there were no hallucinogens involved in this stay or even at the cabin.

Anyway, it’s bothered us since. we want to find it and watch it to make sure we didn’t cross into the twilight zone or something.
