Non-traditional comforter?

I'm looking replace my comforter and sheets. My current comforter is the usual cheap, poofy, polyester filled kind. It's also a size too big for my queen bed and often ends up on the floor. I'm wondering if there are any other materials of comforters that are a little bit different. For example, I find the chunky yarn ones interesting. My sheets and pillow cases are white, but I will be replacing those too as they're coming apart (will probably get white again, but it depends).
