Not planning on returning anytime soon
After using Cursor for a while, I noticed my coding skills started to decline (Brain muscle memory..). The temptation to just “vibe code” became too strong, and as a result, I ended up producing increasingly buggy code. Additionally, the “blackbox” in what cursor does with tokens etc. began to frustrate me after several updates.
Recently, I switched back to VSCode and started using Roo Code and damn.. what a nice change it has been! I frequently use tools like Ask and Architect, which provide just enough guidance while still letting me write code myself. This approach not only makes coding more enjoyable but also encourages me to think more critically about software architecture again. And also using Roo to write code is helpful and the fact i can easily use any model with my own api key and seeing the context count and token count is perfect!
While Cursor was fun to use, I’m not planning on returning anytime soon.
