Help cleaning oily residue

Hello everyone,

I am a custodian at a church, and one of the things I have to do is clean up wax spills, I read somewhere that vegetable oil can dissolve wax. That didn’t work and now there is an oily residue on the untreated porous stone. So I have 2 questions, 1 how do I clean up the oily residue (I was going to try dish soap and water tomorrow) and 2 how do I can I clean up the wax?

Any info helps
