Diving into History: Accuracy in Goði Sagas: Ísland (Early Development Thoughts)
One of my core goals for Goði Sagas: Ísland is to create a historically authentic experience of the Viking Age in Iceland. As a solo developer, this involves a lot of research, and I wanted to share some early thoughts and see what resonates with you all.
I'm currently focusing on:
- Settlement Management: Implementing realistic resource gathering (fishing, farming, etc.), building historically plausible structures, and managing the needs of your growing population.
- Social Structures: Reflecting the importance of kinship, law, and the Althing (the Icelandic assembly) in the game's mechanics.
- Beliefs and Mythology: Integrating elements of Norse mythology and the pre-Christian beliefs of the time in a meaningful way.
As someone interested in Norse history, what are some key aspects or details you feel are crucial to get right in a game set in this period? Are there any specific historical events or figures in early Iceland that you find particularly fascinating?
I'm open to all suggestions and insights! You can follow the development journey and share your thoughts over at r/godisagas
Takk fyrir!
